Please join us on March 1, 2026, from 12:00-2:00 pm Central Time for a one day event on breathwork for martial artists, to be held at Crestwood Aikido Shinjinkan Dojo, 15546 S. Cicero Ave. Oak Forest, IL 60452, and also livestreamed via Zoom.
Breath is Life. With proper breathing and posture, we can move about our day with calm, confidence and clarity. Join us for an introductory class on the mechanics of correct breathing which will focus on proper usage of the breath in stillness and in motion. A portion of this seminar will also focus on the use of proper breathing in execution of martial art body movement and technique.
Participants will learn the mechanics of proper diaphragmatic breathing, basic meditation techniques, breathing exercises for both energy and relaxation, and embodied techniques using the breath for clarity, healing, and deeper, more restful sleep.
The instructor is Jim Tabor Sensei, Chief Instructor at Crestwood Aikido Shinjinkan Dojo. He has studied martial arts (Aikido - ranked Yondan, 4th degree black belt, and Iaido) and Zen meditation for over 30 years. With experience in both traditional Japanese martial arts and Zen, he brings a unique approach to breath in stillness and movement.
Practitioners should wear comfortable clothing which will allow for movement. Martial artists may wear keikogi if they wish, however sweatpants, leggings, and t-shirts are all appropriate attire. A water bottle is recommended as well.
This seminar is open to all martial artists, regardless of affiliation, style, rank, or experience. Please join us either in person or via Zoom.
